Derrick Bostrom - C'mon! Live A Little
Saturdays - 3PM PT

"C’mon! Live a Little!" host Derrick Bostrom gained notoriety as the drummer and founding member of the legendary U.S. band the Meat Puppets. One of the longest-lasting bands from the 1980s indie scene, the Meat Puppets released 10 albums, including 1994’s certified gold "Too High To Die" featuring the hit "Backwater," which can still be heard on classic rock stations to this day. The band was also featured on Nirvana's best-selling "Unplugged" album, which contained three Meat Puppets songs.

Though he retired from live performing after the original trio disbanded in the late 90's, Bostrom retains a voracious musical appetite. He spends much of his spare time in the dusty corners of second-hand shops, thrift stores and dollar bins, gleefully scooping up the ephemeral leftovers not appropriated by other collectors. He released a solo e.p., "Songs Of Spiritual Uplift," in 1996, which featured spirited versions of “Pac Man Fever," “Let’s Turkey Trot” and The Archies' "Nursery Rhyme."

Along with a site devoted to his experiences in the Meat Puppets, Bostrom also maintains the Bostworld blog, a site devoted to the  "trash, treasure, oddities, obsessions and obligations" that consume his every waked moment.

  • Philosophy of my radio show: A man, a room full of records and a divine mission. They say confession is good for the soul. I give proof to this prescription every week as I unburden myself of as many guilty pleasures from my collection as an hour can hold.
  • Five artists LuxuriaMusic listeners will hear on my show: Frank Sinatra Jr, Jim Ed Brown, Les Humphries, Anita Kerr and innumerable faceless studio professionals and amateurs whose identities have been lost to history.
  • To derive maximum pleasure from my radio show: put on your apron, fill your bucket with Spic N Span, and give your kitchen floor the attention it deserves.
  • When I’m not DJing I can be found: at derrickbostrom.com, spreading lies about popular culture past, present and future.
  • Secret superpower I possess: Able to remove most major pops and clicks with a single pass.
